Julio Orta, (Monterrey, México. 1986) Currently living in Los Angeles, where he got his MFA at California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, California (2016). Using a wide variety of media in his art, it’s conceptual: about everyday life woven together with the absurd and the playful. The environment is often a starting point for him with focus on the playful, all the way into the paradoxical. It ranges from the everyday human drama to the unseen absurdities of life that go unspoken. He was awarded a Residency in “O.F.A.R” Harrisonburg,Virginia, USA (2017), “Arteles”, Finland (2014) and “Side Street Studios” in Cape Town, South Africa (2015). His work was included in the official programming of the 56th Venice Biennale in the exhibition “The future is unwritten” in the Palazzo Cini in 2015. And the IV Moscow International biennale for Young Art in “Don’t Even Dream!” RuArts Gallery, Moscow (Russia) 2014 In 2011 he won the award DIA (Design and Innovation Award), Monterrey, Mexico (2011) .His work is part of the Luciano Benetton Collection.
